How do I start a tour?

Open the app, allow location access when prompted, and tap Tour. Wiki City Guide will read nearby places aloud automatically as you walk within range of them — you can change how close a place needs to be in Settings > Tour Distance.

Touring won't start / I get a "Could not start Tour" error

This usually means the app couldn't start location tracking in the background. Check that notifications are allowed for Wiki City Guide, and that battery optimization isn't restricting the app, then try again. On Android, battery settings are usually under Settings > Apps > Wiki City Guide > Battery.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple or Google, not by us directly:

I reinstalled the app / got a new phone — how do I get my subscription back?

Open the paywall and tap "Restore purchases." This reconnects your existing subscription or lifetime purchase using your Apple ID or Google account, no need to pay again.

Why isn't a place being read aloud when I'm nearby?

Make sure Touring is switched on and location permission is set to "Allow all the time" (not just "While using the app") — background location access is required for the app to detect nearby places while your phone is locked. Also double check the app isn't muted in Settings.

Can I clear my history of read articles?

Yes — go to Settings and tap "Clear read articles" to reset which places have already been read to you.

Where does the article content come from?

Directly from Wikipedia. If an article looks wrong or out of date, it's best updated on Wikipedia itself, and the app will pick up the change next time it fetches that article.
